Privacy Policy

The Helm app has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Everything you set up stays on your device. This website uses Google Analytics, described below.

This policy covers the Helm PTZ app for iPhone, iPad and Mac ("Helm") and this website. "We" and "us" mean the makers of Helm.

What Helm keeps

Helm has no accounts and nothing to sign up for. Your Workspaces, settings, saved shots and shot pictures are stored on your device. We never see them.

We do not use analytics, advertising or crash reporting services in the app. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we never sell your information.

Passwords

Passwords for your switcher and cameras are stored only on your device, with your Workspace or in the Keychain. They are never sent to us.

Local network

Helm asks for Local Network access to find and control the switchers and cameras on your network. Control and video go straight between your device and your gear and never pass through our servers.

Helm uses NDI® software from Vizrt NDI AB to receive video, tally and camera control from NDI® sources on your local network.

Camera

Helm asks for the camera only to scan the connect code from OBS, and on iPad and Mac to show your switcher's video when it is plugged in over USB. Camera pictures are shown on screen and never saved or sent anywhere.

Notifications and Live Activities

If you allow notifications, Helm shows alerts about your own setup, like a camera disconnecting. On iPhone, a Live Activity can show your stream timer and what is on air. These are created on your device.

This website

This website uses Google Analytics to see how visitors find and use it, like which pages they view, how far they scroll and which buttons they tap. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects details such as your browser, device, rough location (country or city) and the pages you visit. IP addresses are not stored. We do not use this for ads, and Google signals and ad personalization are off. We keep this data for 14 months.

In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you accept. Anywhere, you can change your choice with Cookie Settings at the bottom of every page, or use the Google Analytics opt out add on. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

The only other thing this website stores in your browser is your cookie choice. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.

If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply to you, and keep them only as long as needed to help you.

Apple

Apple handles your purchase and may share sales and usage numbers with us that do not identify you. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children

Helm is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

What Helm keeps is on your device: delete the app to remove it. For anything you sent us by email, ask us by email to see or delete it. Depending on where you live, such as the EU, the UK or California, you may have more rights, like getting a copy of your data. We answer every request within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date above. If Helm starts to collect anything new, we will say so here first.
